We did it! We made it to the end of the year. This year has gone so quickly… I can’t believe it is almost over! I hope everyone had a good year, or at least had some good moments. Santa Claus is coming to town soon, so I hope everyone has been good! What did you ask for Christmas this year? In New Zealand, it is believed that Santa Claus has a list of boys and girls that have been “naughty” during the year. These naughty children do not receive any presents. They instead receive a bag of coal! Scary huh… Maybe it’s a good idea to be on your best behavior!

やったね！やっと今年の終わりになった。もうすぐ終わるなんて信じられない！ みんなにとっていい年であったこと、少なくともいい瞬間があったと思うよ。 もうすぐサンタさんが町にやってくるので、みんなめっちゃ元気だったね！ 今年のクリスマスは何を頼んだの？ ニュージーランドでは、サンタさんがその年に「いたずら」をした男の子と女の子のリストを持っていると信じられているんだよ。 いたずらした子はプレゼントをもらえません。 彼らは代わりに石炭の袋を受け取ります！ 怖いなぁ…ちゃんとしとくのがいいよね！

Looking back at this year, I am very proud of everyone involved with these English lessons for what we have all achieved. The teachers who worked alongside me, management, students and the parents who make all of this possible. I feel like the connection I have with the kids and the teachers is stronger than ever and is making these lessons more and more enjoyable.

今年を振り返ってみると、英語レッスンに関わっていただいたすべての人たちが達成したことを非常に誇りに思っています。わたしと一緒に働いてくれた先生方、経営陣、生徒、そして　これらすべてを可能にしてくれる保護者たちの皆さん。 子どもたちや先生たちとのつながりがこれまで以上に強くなり、授業がますます楽しくなってきていると感じています。

During the last part of this year, in our lessons we have been studying winter and Christmas themed vocabulary. Also, we looked at winter activities and what we want for Christmas. In our final lesson this year we did a big review of most of the topics we covered this year. That final lesson went by very quickly! But, it was a lot of fun. Oh! And how could I forget… I even heard Santa Claus himself visited Choyo Kindergarten!

今年の後半、ぼくたちのレッスンでは、冬とクリスマスの単語を勉強したよね。それと、冬のアクティビティとクリスマスに欲しいものについても勉強したね。 今年の最後のレッスンでは、今年取り上げたほとんどのトピックを一斉に復習たね。 最後のレッスンはあっという間に終わった！ でも、とても楽しかった。 おー！どうして忘れることができるのでしょう… サンタさんが朝陽幼稚園を訪れたとさえ聞いたことを・・・！

 

Some noticeable activities we played were: “Santa’s sack” and “where’s the reindeer?”.

Santa’s sack is designed just to make learning vocabulary a little more fun! Students helped Santa pull each flashcard out of his sack, making Santa fall back in a humorous way. Finally, student would place each flashcard under the Christmas tree.  

Where’s the reindeer encourages the kids to engage in a basic conversation with each other – even if its just as basic as “do you have the reindeer?”, “yes, I do” or “no, I don’t”.

「サンタの袋」と「トナカイはどこ？」

サンタの袋は、単語をもっと楽しく学べるようにデザインされています。 こどもたちは、サンタさんが袋からそれぞれのフラッシュ カードを取り出すのを手伝い、サンタさんを面白い方法で後ずさりさせました。 最後に、こどもは一枚づつフラッシュカードをクリスマス ツリーの下に置いていきます。

「トナカイはどこ？」は、「トナカイはいますか？」、「はい、います」、「いいえ、いません」などの基本的な会話であっても、こどもたちがお互いに基本的な会話をするよう促します。
