It has been getting much warmer recently! The very, very, very hot Japanese summer will soon be here. In comparison, the normal temperate during summer in New Zealand is usually stays around 28 degrees!
最近 すごく暖かくなってきてるね！めちゃくちゃ暑い日本の夏がもうすぐやってくるよ。
それに比べて、たいてい ニュージーランドの夏の気温は 28℃ぐらいなんだよ!

Anyway, I hope everyone has been well.
とにかく、みんな 元気だよね！

Today we started our new topic – vehicles! So, this includes: talking about cars, buses, planes and much more.
今日、僕たちは 新しいトピック – 車、バス、飛行機などなど 乗り物を始めたね!.

Recently we have been starting our lessons a little different each time to keep things fresh and fun. Such as today, we began by going directly into a new song “if you’re happy and you know it”. Our everyday vocabulary was presented by Mr. Lion – a long term friend of mine! The students asked Mr. Lion three questions – (1) what is your name? (2) how old are you? And (3) How are you? These questions were a lot of fun and everybody did great.
最近 僕たちは 物事を新鮮で面白いものにするために、少し違った時間にレッスンを始めているね。
例えば 今日、”幸せなら手をたたこう”っていう新しい歌から 直ぐ レッスンを始めたね。
僕と長いつきあいの友達のLion (ライオン) さんが 毎日の語彙を示してくれたんだよ。子ども達は Lion (ライオン)さんに３つの質問をしました – (1) あなたの名前は何? (2) あなたは何歳なの? (3) 元気!?
これらの質問はたくさんの楽しいことだし、みんなを大きくさせるね。

As for our new topic: vehicles, each type of vehicle was introduced via a simple game of charades. I mimicked each of the vehicles and waited for the students to raise their hands to see if they knew what the vehicles were in either English or Japanese.

僕たちの新しいトピック、乗り物について、それぞれの乗り物が 簡単なジェスチャーゲームで表現された。
例えば、車や自転車のマネをして、子供たちが手を挙げて、それが何かを言い当てるのを待っていたよ。それは 英語でも日本語でもOK!

Once I felt they had a basic idea of the vehicles, we moved onto the final part of the lesson.
Today we played a game where each vehicle flashcard was placed on the floor at the front of the classroom as everyone was moved to the back of the classroom. Two students were then selected at a time to participate! These students would be asked to stand side by side, wait until I counted to 3 and yell out one of the flashcards. The first student to touch that flashcard would then be announced the “winner!” and receive a stamp of their choice.
子供たちが乗り物についての基本的なことは判っていると僕は思ったので、僕たちはレッスンの最終章に移ってたね。
今日、僕たちは 教室の前の床に乗り物のフラッシュカードを置いて、みんなで教室の後ろの方に移動してゲームを始めたね。
選ばれた二人の子供が参加してくれたね。
僕が３つ数えて、1枚のフラッシュカードを取り出して、そこに書いている乗り物を大きな声で読み上げるまで、彼らは ずっと横並びに立ってくれていた。
そして、そのカードを手にした最初の子供が “勝ち!”って呼ばれて、彼らの勝利のスタンプを受けたね。

I had a great time today and hope everyone else felt the same! Also, a big thank you to the homeroom teachers for helping me demonstrate certain activities!
とても良い時間を過ごせたよ。みんなも同じ感じだったよね。
いろいろな活動をさせてくれた担任の先生の皆さんにも本当に感謝しているよ。
