Welcome to our final blog of this school year! It has been so much fun for me being able to explore a variety of different topics and share them with everyone this school year. As a quick reminder, this year we looked at: Vacations, Food, Insects, Jobs, Places, Halloween, Christmas, New Year’s, Hot and Cold and a few other things too! Some of my favorite activities within those topics were: Halloween Marco Polo, Snow ball attack, Snap and making Paper Planes!

今年度最後のブログへようこそ！今年はさまざまなトピックを探求し、それをみんなと共有することができてとても楽しかったです。簡単に思い出していただきますと、今年は休暇、食べ物、昆虫、仕事、場所、ハロウィーン、クリスマス、正月、暑い、寒い、その他にもいくつか取り上げました。これらのトピックの中で私のお気に入りのアクティビティは、ハロウィーンのマルコポーロ、雪玉攻撃、スナップ、紙飛行機作りです。

 

I hope everyone had a good time during English class this year and I wish all of the older students the best of luck as they head into elementary school! I will miss you all greatly.

 As for the younger ones, I look forward to seeing you all again the next school year!

今年も皆さんが英語の授業を楽しく過ごせたことを願っています。また、上級生の皆さんが小学校に入学するにあたっての幸運を祈っています。皆さんがいなくなるととても寂しくなります。 年少の皆さん、来年度またお会いできるのを楽しみにしています！

 

Now… Here’s what we have been up to since the last blog! The main themes have been MOVEMENT and exercise!

さて… 前回のブログ以降に私たちが取り組んできたことは次のとおりです。主なテーマは「MOVEMENT」と「エクササイズ」です。

 

Camping:

Who doesn’t love camping? For this topic, we looked at some common camping activities such as fishing, BBQ’s and sleeping in a sleeping bag! We also looked at some of the dangers of camping including wild animals and fires. We managed to learn about these things while playing some games. One of these games included being in dark using only a head lamp and running away from possible dangers! This was a little scary, but over all a lot of fun!

キャンプ：

キャンプが好きではない人はいないでしょうか？このトピックでは、釣り、バーベキュー、寝袋で寝るなど、一般的なキャンプ アクティビティをいくつか取り上げました。また、野生動物や火災など、キャンプの危険性についてもいくつか調べました。私たちはいくつかのゲームをプレイしながらこれらのことについて学ぶことができました。そのうちの 1 つは、暗闇の中でヘッドランプだけを使用し、起こり得る危険から逃げるというものでした。少し怖かったですが、全体的にはとても楽しかったです！

 

Valentine’s Day:

For our valentines lesson we looked at relevant vocabulary and some of the cultural differences between how this day is celebrated in Japan and the rest of the world. Something you may not be aware of is that in a lot of western countries, there is no “White day”! Meaning, Valentines is primarily for the girls! Lucky! Our game for this one was having the class split into two teams and use “Cupid’s Bow and Arrow” and “Cupid’s Throwing Star” to try see which team could hit the heart target the most!

バレンタインデー：

バレンタインのレッスンでは、関連する語彙と、日本と世界のこの日の祝い方の文化的な違いについて学びました。あまり知られていないかもしれませんが、多くの西洋諸国には「ホワイトデー」がありません。つまり、バレンタインは主に女の子のためのものです。

ラッキー！今回のゲームは、クラスを 2 つのチームに分け、「キューピッドの弓矢」と「キューピッドの手裏剣」を使って、どちらのチームが一番ハートのターゲットに命中できるかを競うというものでした。

 

Working out:

For our final lesson of the school year, I magically transformed into a PE teacher! This was to match our over arching theme of “exercise”! Here, we learnt about the importance of moving our bodies and staying healthy. We also learnt a few basic exercises, including push-ups, sit-ups and a few more. This all culminated in everyone running racing through a circuit of different exercises! This was one of my favorite lessons and I had quite a few students asking for one more round! Although, I was pretty tired by the end!

ワークアウト:

学年最後の授業で、私は魔法のように体育教師に変身しました！これは私たちの壮大なテーマである「運動」に合わせてのものでした！ここでは体を動かすこと、健康を保つことの大切さを学びました。また、腕立て伏せ、腹筋運動など、いくつかの基本的なエクササイズも学びました。これは、全員がさまざまなエクササイズのサーキットをレースで走ることで最高潮に達しました。これは私のお気に入りのレッスンの 1 つで、もう 1 ラウンドを希望する生徒もたくさんいました。でも、最後までかなり疲れました！

And just like that, our school year together has come to an end! I want to congratulate everyone for their efforts, both students and teachers! I had a great time and again, I wish everyone the best for the coming year and thank you all for the memories!

こうして私たちの学年も終わりを迎えました！生徒と教師の両方の皆さんの努力を祝福したいと思います。とても楽しい時間を過ごさせていただきました。来年度も皆様のご多幸をお祈り申し上げますとともに、思い出をありがとうございました!
